AARC MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNT!
Attention LSRC Members – Your Best Membership Deal Yet
The Louisiana Society for Respiratory Care has an excellent AARC membership opportunity for you For a limited time, we are selling vouchers for AARC Membership for only $80. (A membership is typically $90.) The LSRC is making this discount happen for you.
Here are our suggestions for taking advantage of this option.
 1. Renew now to save money for yourself. No matter what your expiration date, buying one of these discounted memberships today extends your current membership for 12 months from your expiration date. (As an example, if your membership expires in December 2010, you can buy a voucher now and it will move your expiration to December 2011.  The AARC tracks on 12 months from whenever you expire.)
2. Encourage a new member to join. There’s never been a better time.  I encourage each AARC Member to help our Membership Committee in encouraging therapists that aren’t AARC Members to consider becoming one by purchasing a Membership Voucher at the low membership dues level.
3. Influence a mass purchase. If you are in a position to influence numerous memberships in your department or school, take advantage of these lower prices. Maximize your budget or take charge of a mass purchase of memberships at your facility for this low rate.
To take advantage of any or all of the above opportunities, please do the following:
Email LSRC Membership Chair Brett Stafford at
            http://us.mc554.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=bstafford@stph.org
He will tell you your next steps to saving money on memberships.
I appreciate your time and effort in helping the LSRC membership committee, the American Association For Respiratory Care and the Louisiana Society For Respiratory Care in this endeavor.
The LSRC is making these discounts available for your benefit. Please consider this option today and act by August 1, 2010.

Chapter 7 Members,
Thanks to all who attended the LSRC state meeting in Baton Rouge.  It was a tremendous success. So many members of the LSRC board of directors worked very hard to provide an excellent educational opportunity, great food and entertainment.  What better way to thank them than to remain active in the society and spread the word that we are going to remain professionally strong by increasing our membership. The LSRC membership drive is now going on and asking each chapter to get the word out about the vouchers available at a discount to new members. If anyone is interested in taking advantage of the discount please contact me by e-mail at rpgaudet161@yahoo.com.
RT department managers-I would be happy to come and speak at your next department meeting to help explain the importance of what it means to remain professionally strong and how the AARC can help.
There is no better time than now to pull together as a society. Higher education and healthcare are being targeted with more than their fare share of state budget cuts so we must be willing to take time out of our busy schedules to contact our legislators and let them know that the decisions they make today will ultimately affect costs, quality and access to healthcare tomorrow.  You can contact your state legislators by going to http://house.legis.state.la.us and http://senate.legis.state.la.us.   to let them know your concerns about the impact of the cuts and how vital it is to secure the future of the Nicholls Respiratory Program which has proven its success for many  years.
Keep checking the website for more information.  Also be sure to visit the AARC and LSRC website as often as possible to stay informed and connected.
As always thanks for your support!

Chapter 7 Members:

On March 6th Bayou Chapter 7 held its first meeting for 2009 at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. The meeting was attended by several dedicated respiratory practitioners and educators from our region. Our LSRC President-Elect Raymond Pisani highlighted all the exciting things happening at the state level and also what our delegates and lobbyist are focusing on at the national level. The importance of AARC membership was once again stressed and encouraged. Our Vice-President for chapter 7, Jessica Adams introduced our new chapter website www.bayouregionrts.webs.com and encouraged everyone to spread the word and encourage others to join the site to stay informed and connected. Chapter members had a great time at LaCasa after the meeting!

Our next meeting will be in June (date TBA). Hope to see everyone at the State Meeting in Baton Rouge, April 15, 16 &17.

Thanks for your continued support!

January 15, 2009
Greetings Chapter 7 Members,

It is an honor to have been asked to lead the Chapter this year and I Thank You for your vote of confidence. For those who do not know me- I  am a Nicholls State Alumnae, have been in Respiratory for the past 20 years (boy, time sure does fly) and  currently work for Assumption Community Hospital in Napoleonville, LA. I previously worked for Lakewood Medical Center (Teche), TGMC and TRMC.

I look forward to 2009 and hope that together as a chapter we can promote our profession, rebuild friendships and hopefully have FUN doing it! Our local chapter gives us a voice and that voice is more important than ever in these uncertain times. That voice makes its way from the local level (Chapter7), to the state level (LSRC), to the national level (AARC) and ultimately to Washington D.C. via representatives and our Lobbyist.

This year we are very excited about our voice from the South-as we congratulate Raymond Pisani, BS, RRT, NPS on his election to President-Elect of the LSRC. Raymond is the Director of Cardiopulmonary Care and Sleep Disorder Center at Teche Regional Medical Center. He has been working on behalf of our Bayou Region and at the State level for many years and we wish him much success as he leads our State Society!
I would like to Thank Mike Folse, our outgoing Bayou Chapter 7 President for his past service to our Chapter and also wish him much success as Industrial Representative(Sepracor) for the LSRC.

Also special thanks to Jessica Adams, Mark Voisin, Warren Arboneaux and Raymond Pisani for offering your help to the chapter this year.

The LSRC will hold its first meeting for 2009 on Feb. 6th in Lafayette. Our LSRC President – Ashley Dulle, BS,RRT,AE-C is already gearing up for what looks like an exciting year for our society! She wants to know- what activities/meetings our members would like to see? Our first Bayou Chapter Meeting will be in March (date TBA). We will discuss some of the goals for the Chapter this year.

•    Increase membership and chapter participation
•    Offer CEU’s to our members
•    A New Bayou Chapter 7 Website
•    Increase Chapter Funds
•    Socialize and have some fun! (We know how to do this!)

In the meantime, I would like to encourage all RCP’s to spread the word and promote our profession by joining the AARC. Take advantage of the opportunities to further educate yourself by having access to the journals, magazines, newsletters and websites available. Also take advantage of the CEU’s, conferences and seminars.

For those new to the profession- when you join the AARC you subsequently become a member of the LSRC and our local Bayou Chapter 7.  www.aarc.org , www.lsrc.net , and (new) www.bayouregionrts.webs.com

I look forward to representing you this year and will keep you posted of upcoming meetings and events. I hope you will feel free to contact me via e-mail if needed rpgaudet161@yahoo.com
